Bruce Springsteen rocks. I admit it. I won't be buying many albums or listening to his music all the time. But, I get it now. As I always knew I would.

One post of month...that seems about right.
Check in on various areas of my life:
Work is very busy. So busy I am not going to bother to mention that my annual review/raise is coming up. People are stressed out. When people are stressed out, they give me bad reviews. I learn well around here.
Roller derby is trucking along and has become the all consuming life changing activity that I expected it would be. I can play well, now. I visited my neurologist for the last time until next June.
RollerCon, the first annual roller derby convention in Las Vegas, is my next big thrill. I'm literally saving my pennies (in a velvet jesus piggy bank).
Burlesque has taken a back seat to derby. Hopefully I'll find more time...soon.
Eric is another ever-present joy in my life. Funny how I thought I was content and busy enough to suit my needs. I was wrong. I don't mind being wrong about this one.

Sunday morning I head out for with Eric, my boyfriend, for brunch with his family at the Alexis Hotel. Oh, how sweet. Boyfriend and family and brunch. But, that's not what this story is about today, kittens. This story is just a small anecdote to represent the carnival tilt-a-whirl, cotton candy, rock-n-roll, gliteratti puppet show, train robbery HOLY FUCKING SHIT ride that my life has become. But, I digress.
I was sitting in this lovely restuarant chatting with said boyfriend and family and I clearly overheard my name, Jo Jo Stiletto, from the other side of the room. I thought I was imagining things, in that weird sort of "am I becoming that shallow? I hear my name in restuarants now" kind of way. But, it wasn't just me. Britta looked at me as if to say, "did you not hear someone across the room say your derby name? Do you know them?" And, the most amazing fucking thing was I DIDN'T KNOW them. I had no idea who these people were! I'm not a good skater. I'm not that pretty of a girl. But, by being nothing other than myself. By wanting to try something new, my challenging myself in the deepest and scariest of ways, I've been happier than I can ever imagine. Complete strangers were talking about me in a restuarant and not in a bad way.Word!
sincerely, JO JO
ps. Okay, I had to go over and ask this group of six why they were talking about Jo Jo Stiletto. Turns out one in the party, Andrea, knows Pete. AKA Skid Vicious. And his friend Ian, who I've met. But, she did say "you're just as they described...redheaded and gorgeous" and "what an honor". So, not complete strangers talking about me. But, that's still pretty cool.
I tried a hat on a few hours later. Yep. Five times too small.
